The National Rule Ottawa Folk Festival

by

According to the official reports from Ottawa Folk Festival, the crowd for The National was one of the biggest of the festival.  The National’s albums have always been well received, often making year’s best of lists, but that doesn’t always translate to crowds. Over the years, especially since their breakthrough album Boxer, The National have established a strong following, and this was the case at Folkfest as the Ottawans flocked to see this great band. I don’t remember having had the opportunity to see The National before, and it was my first time seeing them. I’m happy to report their live show is every bit as good as their albums. Looking forward to seeing them again.

  1. i was front row on the left side, my friend was front row right side. We spent a fair portion of the show arguing over who had the best spot. Then Matt left the stage to climb into the audience…on the right side. After 10 minutes of berating myself for picking the wrong side, Matt comes diving into the crowd a few feet from me.

Every concert should end with “Vaderlyle Crybaby Geeks”.
