Yukon Blonde – “Saturday Night”

by

It never fails that literally the week after the SXSW festival, a new band is discovered and of course they were just at the festival. Yukon Blonde is one of those bands.

Yukon Blonde first assembled in Kelowna, British Columbia as Alphababy and later reinvented themselves as Yukon Blonde in 2008. They have released two previous albums – their self-titled debut in 2010 and 2012’s Tiger Talk. They are now located in Vancouver and will release their third album this summer.

“Saturday Night” is the first track from the album, and it includes some pretty great synth-pop that distantly reminds of the greats from the 80s and 90s (think Tears for Fears, Simple Minds) but has a fresh vibe for 2015. The infectious synth-pop track with psych undertones is one to spin getting ready at home before, fittingly, a Saturday Night on the town. Regardless if you are getting ready at home or driving to your final destination, it is a great track to get you moving and in the mood for a great time.

The upcoming album is being honed by engineer and co-producer Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Dan Mangan, Sleepy Sun) and mixer Tony Hoffer (M83, Beck, Foster the People, Air, Depeche Mode).

You can purchase the single on i-Tunes and keep an eye out for their upcoming album this summer.
