Sing House Studios: A passion for singing

by
Chantal Hackett, founder of Sing House Studios

Chantal Hackett is well-known in the Ottawa music community. As a singer-songwriter, Hackett has two albums and she is currently putting the final touches on a new CD, which she hopes to release this summer. But while she is well-known as a singer-songwriter and performer, she has been gaining attention and accolades as a voice and performance teacher.

She founded Sing House Studios in her home 10 years ago and what started with a handful of students has now grown to over 80 girls and boys. What is perhaps most remarkable about Sing House is how it’s become a place for kids and young adults to not only nurture their individual talent, but build their confidence and learn to work with others. This is particularly true of Sing House’s Singers Club where singers are combined into small groups and learn songs that they perform at different events throughout the year. “The Ettas” is one these groups. I met up with them and Hackett during one of their practices. The interview is below.
