Thyla – “Betty”

by

Location: Brighton, United Kingdom

Members: Thyla are Millie Duthie (vocals/guitar); Elis Davies (guitar), Danny Southwell (drums), and Dan Hole (bass).

For those who like: Garbage, Wolf Alice, Joanna Gruesome

Our take: Released in the spring, “Betty” is the debut single from Thyla. With Millie Duthie’s poignant lyrics and punk-ish vocals and the edgy guitar work and bass lines, the track has the attitude and personality of alt-rock greats Garbage. For fans of more current indie rock, Wolf Alice and Joanna Gruesome come to mind, especially during the proggier moments on the tune. If Thyla retain this sound, they could be the next big buzz band from the UK.

Other news: Those around the East Sussex and London areas should check Thyla’s Facebook page for information on their next shows. They have gigs on July 13 and July 24.
