Ottawa Bluesfest in Revue – Day 6

by

Day 6 was the start of the second “half” of Ottawa Bluesfest after our one day break. There were some Southern acts that flirted with the controversy of the confederate battle flag but I missed all that because other than Future Islands I was not at either of the main stages. Future Islands have quickly gained a reputation of being an amazing live act and it is deserved. They also did not let the rain get in their way.

I have nothing against country music in general but I had no specific interest in the country act about to take the stage, but at Bluesfest there is often something for everyone and for me that was the Black Lips. They put on a very energetic and interesting show. I followed their performance with the festival favourite and always great John Butler Trio. The last time he was scheduled to perform was after the infamous stage collapse so we were overdue.

Unfortunately the rain and sudden temperature drop made the evening a little uncomfortable for those who were not prepared, but musically it was another solid offering.
