Ottawa Bluesfest in Revue – Day 9

by

I went in early for Day 8 of  Ottawa Bluesfest to see The Yips. I was first introduced to The Yips last year at the Arboretum Festival so I knew they were a a great live band and wanted to see more of them.

Last year at the Ottawa Folk Festival I was caught completely off guard by a band called Dear Rouge. I had not heard of them before and I was simply caught off guard and blown away with their confident stage performance. You can read a little more about my gushing about that performance here. This time I went in with high expectations, but they met my expectations. It was another solid live show. I look forward to seeing them again.

I was introduced to the Dropkick Murphys by a coworker and super fan a few years ago. These guys can rile up their audience with the best of them. They are a perfect band for a festival setting.

The Revue loves Lowell. This was my 3rd time photographing Lowell this year. First there was the performance at the House of Targ, then GlowFair and now Bluesfest. It’s been a big year for Lowell and we are happy for them.

Last, and certainly not least was The Tragically Hip. When I moved to Ontario in the mid 90s it coincided with the release of Fully Completely. I can’t think of a better way of being welcomed to Ontario than by The Tragically Hip. For the next year the radio waves were inundated with song after song from the album, and over the years even on hits have stood the test of time. Clearly this album is now a classic, and honestly it is my personal favourite album of all time. When The Tragically Hip announced the Fully Completely tour and left off Ottawa I was quite upset. Well boys, all is forgiven…
