Arboretum Festival 2015 – Part 1

by

I first discovered the Arboretum Festival in 2014. I go to so many musical festivals that I wasn’t really looking to add another one but I had been waiting such a long time to see the Constantines that I decided to go so I committed to yet another festival. I enjoyed myself so much last year that I added it again this year and I am sure it’s now going to be part of my summer line-up of festivals.

One thing that makes the Arboretum Festival a little different is their curated selection of artists. If you are going to try to entice people out to another festival it can’t be the same artists that keep playing all the other local festivals. There is already quite a bit of overlap with some artists. Of all the acts on the Friday night I had only seen two before, Braids and The Sadies. I had recently heard great things about New Swears but had missed the performance. The rest of the bands on the line-up were all new to me. Well I must admit, Scattered Clouds looked awfully familiar.

The bands I knew were as great as I remembered, the ones I heard about were as good as I was told, and the ones I had never heard of were interesting. I especially like the variety in styles that were presented.

Please enjoy some photos from the Friday night.
