Against Me! rock the Bronson Centre (photo essay)

by

A couple years ago, the Bronson Centre was renovated, removing many rows of seats to make room for a “standing” area in front of the stage. This is exactly the kind of show this change was made for, as one does not go see Against Me! and sit through the performance. Sure enough, when the band hit the stage and kicked off the set with “True Trans Soul Rebel”, the crowd responded enthusiastically and from then on the band had them. The fans’ excitement led to vigorous dancing and yes some crowd surfing of course.

Against Me! are currently opening for Green Day and filling in some off nights headlining their own shows. This was one of those nights, so instead of the typical 11-song set they have opening for Green Day, the fans were rewarded with an incredible 27 songs! This allowed the band ample time to play favourites from the old albums as well as highlight material from their formidable new album Shape Shift With Me. By the end of the generous serving of rock, the fans went home satiated.

The evening was kicked off with a strong performance by Chuck Coles, whose solo performance, just he and his guitar, was an inviting beginning to the evening.

In the middle, Mobina Galore grabbed the baton and punched up the intensity of the evening before passing it to Against Me! for the anchor leg.

The three bands combined for a brilliant evening of punk-inspired rock!
