Miya Folick Live at The Lexington, London (photo essay)

One of our favourites made her way over the pond, giving us the first opportunity to see Miya Folick in person. The Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter didn’t disappoint, treating the audience at The Lexington in London to a wonderful set.

Armed with a film camera, she urged the crowd to pass it around and get some shots for her to get printed, before imprinting her voice into the minds of the crowd.

Although the music seems pretty simple at first, it’s perfectly written and extremely easy to just get lost in. Suddenly, you forget that you’re supposed to be writing a review and you’ve not taken any notes!

Teaming up with her band for the first part, she sent them off from the stage to sing “Talking with Strangers” on her own, before singing her brilliant new song “Trouble Adjusting”.

Miya declared her love for London before closing up with one last song. A wonderful cover of Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock”.

After a short UK tour, Miya is now heading back to the US. Details can be found on her website.
“Trouble Adjusting” is now available on iTunes and Bootcamp.
