by

The Matinee July 31st includes 5 new tracks to get your week started off right. We have a great mix of awesome indie tracks for your listening pleasure. Artists are representing Australia, the US, the UK and Sweden today.

Beaches – “When You’re Gone” (Melbourne, Australia)

RIYL: Love of Diagrams, Scott & Charlene’s Wedding, Twerps

Beaches have just released “When You’re Gone” and it’s a dreamy psych inspired track by the always stellar female quintet.

“When You’re Gone” is super melodic as the track ebbs and flows with a chorus you can’t help but sing along to. With the mix of driving percussion, psych inspired guitars and pop laden oohhs and ahhs we are instantly hooked.

“When You’re Gone” is from Beaches’ forthcoming album titled Second of Spring which will be released in September via Chapter Music.

Beaches are Allison Bolger, Ali McCann, Antonia Sellbach, Karla Way and Gillian Tucker.

Company of Thieves – “Treasure” (Los Angeles/Chicago, USA)

RIYL: The Joy Formidable, Metric, Sleeper Agent

“Treasure” is the first single in six years for Company of Thieves.  The band is about to embark on a fall reunion tour but the real treat was new music from the talented trio.

It’s a wonderfully produced track with Ms. Schatz’s hazy vocals surrounded by brooding guitar and driving percussion. The track is in response to today’s political climate as Genevieve shares that the song is “a call-to-arms that was written immediately following the presidential election about being faced with a climate of fear and division and what can happen when you look inside yourself to find freedom and say yes to love.” She explained

Company of Thieves are: Genevieve Schatz – Vocals, Marc Walloch – Guitar, Vocals and Chris Faller – Bass, Vocals, Drums.

Elsa – “Nobody Likes You” (Stockholm, Sweden)

RIYL: Emma Dewing, Astrid S, Sigrid

Elsa is Elsa Thyra from Stockholm, Sweden and she is creating really upbeat and awesome synth pop tracks that force you to hit repeat. Last year she released the single “Skintight” and we are now introduced to “Nobody Likes You”.

The single has an r&b vibe throughout and Elsa’s vocals are sultry yet sweet. The production includes pulsating synth and a nice addition of heavy percussion elements that adds to the overall vibe.

FRND – “Movies” (Los Angeles, USA)

RIYL: RKCB, Royal Tongues, Strange Talk

We have been following the Koala friendly persona of the LA based FRND for a while now and with the release of the EP, In Your Dreams we finally know who FRND is. With a huge amount of buzz and spins across social media we now know that FRND is multi platinum selling songwriter and producer Andrew Goldstein.

With “Movies” we have a track that speaks to life’s expectations especially regarding relationships. FRND shares a bit about the track: “I’m looking back on a relationship, and it’s playing in my head like a movie,” admits FRND. “It never turns out how you would expect it. I wanted to capture that.”

“Movies” is one of the final tracks that completes the In Your Dreams EP which is out now.
