The Nursery & Adera bring Synth Night to Bar Robo (photo essay)

by

For those who have not yet visited Bar Robo, they have taken over the space that used to be Raw Sugar in Ottawa’s Chinatown. The space has been renovated significantly, now transformed into an intimate yet contemporary cafe and club for live music. On this particular Wednesday night, the venue hosted the aptly billed Synth Night, as both bands featuring significant use of synthesizers in their music.

The evening started with Vancouver-based Adera, dropping in for their performance on their way to Montreal. Take a listen to the track I’ve included if you like what you heard or you’re unfamiliar with their music. They offer their entire EP on bandcamp for “Name Your Price”.

The Toronto-based The Nursery headlined the evening. The band won best Indie Band (2015) and Best Music Video (2016) at the Toronto Independent Music awards. Clearly this is a band on the rise and together with Adera the provided a great evening out. Their first full-length album Life After Wartime was released last month. If you like what you hear, check it out from your favourite source.
