I first heard Skydiggers when I was in high school, which seems like a long time ago. In fact, it was a long time ago. 25 years to be exact.

The band has been celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, with 4 (that’s right, 4) releases including their latest holiday-themed EP, Angels. It’s a beautiful album, with somewhat melancholy takes on some classic and lesser-known holiday songs.

I got on the phone with Josh Finlayson, who’s been with the band from day one (even earlier than that if you count his friendship with bandmate Andy Maize), to talk about the anniversary, their upcoming holiday shows, and what his family will be doing for the holidays. He’s a hell of a nice guy, by the way.

The gigs are not to be missed. But if you have to miss them, well, make sure you pick up the CD.

Here’s my full conversation with Josh.
