Vintage Vinyl – Carl’s Sons

by

Carl’s Sons were a lounge duo consisting of Rob and Elmer Stalkie who were a featured attraction at the Ali Baba Steakhouse (apparently still a going concern) in Waterloo, Ontario throughout the ’70s. Rob played mandolin, Elmer played guitar and on this version* of Bobby Hebb’s oft-covered hit “Sunny” what sounds like a primitive drum machine or (more likely) one of the percussion settings on an old organ is a perfect accompaniment to their stringed flights of fancy.
