For the most part on The Revue, we’ve focused on rock, pop, indie rock, indie folk, classic rock, and occasionally dipped into hip hop, rap, and hard rock. One genre that we haven’t focused much on is the blues. If there are more artists like Bella Cat, that might change.
Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, Bella Cat’s debut EP, Corrupted, which was released in January of this year, is stirring and a terrific first album. Her powerful, booming, soulful voice is tantalizing, capturing one’s attention like Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, and Sharon Jones do when they take the stage.
She’ll be performing at The Blacksheep Inn on April 18 with two other Ottawa bands, The Wicked Mercy and The Lionyls. Check them all out if you can.
