There’s an old saying that goes, “Age is nothing but a number”. Angelique Francis, with her booming and majestic voice that begets images of a classic 1970s soul singer, is proof of that. She first performed at Bluesfest in 2011 and has performed, among other places, at Canada Day festivities, the Super Ex, and the Canadian War Museum. Oh, and she’s also only 16 years old.

With a mixture of crowd pleasing covers that more-than do justice to their predecessors and well-written catchy originals, Francis is a rising star who would catch anybody off guard with the power of her vocals and her presence on the stage. As she continues to grow as both a singer and an artist (in addition to writing and composing her own songs, Francis is a multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, drums, keyboard, harmonica, bass, and guitar), the sky is truly the limit for Francis and her next launching point will be at the RBC Bluesfest 2014.

You can catch Angelique Francis at the Barney Danson Theatre at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 4 and trust us, you won’t regret it.
