“OH HELL YES” – My first reaction when I hit play on their self-titled LP Fiftymen. This Ottawa five-piece band play some badass hardcore country music. The first track, “Wedding Band” is a bluesy, gritty, swingin’ track that’s just freakin’ awesome. It’s followed up by some great country ballads, “Laureen” and “Don’t Cry” before we get back to pure rockin’ with “Shake It”. The rest of the album is great, too, and it’s not all country, the Fiftymen get into some spacey psychedelic zone on “That Look On Your Face”, and surf rock it up with “Already Gone”.
