I once heard someone say that there is nothing like the sound of a guy who’s been through it all and lived to tell the tale. John Allaire has that sound. With their contagious mixture of modern alternative and old bar room country, John Allaire and the Campistas sound like no one else you will hear at Bluesfest. Allaire’s voice has the perfect amount of weariness to deliver his excellent lyrics with conviction and his band backs him with ample and versatility.
On stage, the band acts loose but plays tight and Allaire, himself, has a jovial good nature about him that can liven up even the deadest crowd. This isn’t Allaire’s first rodeo at Bluesfest and there is a reason he keeps getting invited back to play – he always ends up as one of the festivals highlights.
You can check out John Allaire and the Campistas on the Bell Stage on Saturday, July 12 at 3 p.m.
