Sloan Releases New Single, “Keep Swinging (Downtown)”

One of our (well the Canadian contingent’s) favourite bands, Sloan, announced yesterday they will release a double LP called, Commonwealth, on September 9. The title, well, is very Canadiana, but its meaning is much deeper – each band member was given one side of an album to feature their “solo” work. Each album side was named after a card suit – Shamrock or club belongs to Patrick Pentland; Diamond is Jay Ferguson’s side; Heart is Chris Murphy’s territory; and the final side, Spade, goes to Andrew Scott.

The first single, “Keep Swinging (Downtown)” by Pentland, is quintessential Sloan – a catchy, rock number that will have people bopping and shaping their hips.
