Weezer was one of my favorite bands when I was younger. In the last few years, however they haven’t released anything that I would consider “good”… There have been decent singles here and there, and parts of the Red Album had some potential, but as a whole the album fell flat.  Will their next album, Everything Will Be Alright In The End reverse that trend? History tells us that’s unlikely, but with their new single “Back To The Shack”, it shows a bit of a return to the older style, power chords straight from Blue, and Rivers’ self-aware lyrics feel like they’re right from Pinkerton. Drummer/Guitarist Patrick Wilson said that the record “sounds like it’s going to have the tight structure of the Blue Album with a little bit more abandon like Pinkerton“.  That statement, plus the nostalgic Weezer feel of “Back To The Shack” really give me hope this will be something special.  Hopefully it doesn’t end up collecting dust on my shelf alongside Raditude and Hurley.
