Brazilian Band Farol Cego (english: Blind Lighthouse) are an indie rock band from Curitiba, Brazil. Recently, they released an EP, Zênite, (English: Zenith), which is really good. I wish I was a bit more familiar with the language, but you can really feel the emotion and passion behind the music. The ambient instrumental “Catatonia” opens up the EP with a bit of an ethereal feel. There’s an absolutely awesome rocker “E Acordo Aqui”. Theres a slower paced track, “Sobre Ir Embora” that’s just fantastic. “Catarse” closes the EP and has some outstanding drumming. The whole EP just has this epic, brooding feel to it, and even though I don’t understand a word of Portuguese, I really enjoy these four tracks musically. I really wish I could put my finger on exactly who I think Farol Cego sounds like, but it does fit in with stuff like Intepol and Editors. Check out an acoustic video of “Catarse” and stream tracks from the EP below. You can also download the EP free from their website.

Hey! I’m the guitarist from Farol Cego. I just found this review. It’s amazing how our music got to another country, even though we never did a thing. I’m really glad you enjoyed our EP. We’re planning to record some new songs soon as possible. We’ll send to you when we’re finished.
