Check out if you like: The Replacements, Deer Tick, Badass Rock & Roll the way it should be

Asheville, North Carolina psych rockers The Tills are about to unleash their next EP, Howlin’ upon us. The six-track EP is due out August 26, it’s gritty rock and roll, and it’s pure badassery. It was mixed and recorded by Mitch Easter, who’s worked with bands including R.E.M., Pavement, and Ex Hex before, who captured these versions of songs that are notoriously raucous live. The title track “Howlin” starts off the EP, it’s got a Kinks-esque garage flavor, but like it were sung with the grit of Deer Tick’s John McCauley, and has an awesome wolf howl chorus.  The second track, “Who Wants You” is a swingin’ rock and roller. You can check out “Gee Golly” below, it’s a total rocker with some really impressive vocal work.  “Heart Is” reminds me quite a bit of The Replacements, until it’s breakdown about halfway through, which is just awesome. The last track, “I Can’t Afford Myself” is a total change of pace, it’s an epic psychedelic jam.  The Tills are unpredictable, badass, and rock just as hard as anyone.
