The New Basement Tapes - Lost on the RiverA few months ago, a new project was launched involving some of the biggest names in indie rock, Americana, blues, and blues rock. The New Basement Tapes is a collaboration between Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops), Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes), Jim James (My Morning Jacket),  Marcus Mumford (Mumford & Sons), and T Bone Burnett. Together they have recorded two dozen, recently discovered lyrics written by Bob Dylan back in 1967. The lyrics were written during the recording of The Basement Tapes. The album, Lost on the River, is produced by T Bone Burnett, and it will be released on November 11 by Electromagnetic Recordings/Harvest Records (Capitol Music Group).

Accompanying the album’s release will be a Showtime documentary titled, Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued. Sam Jones, the man behind the Wilco documentary, I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, directs the film.

You can pre-order Lost on the River now on The New Basement Tape’s official store, which has a wide variety of bundles to choose from. Below are “Married to My Hack” and “Nothing to It”.
