Hidden Gem: Sammy Brue

Singer-songwriter Sammy Brue may only be 13 years old, but he’s already started making a name for himself in the American folk music scene.  He’s opened for the likes of Hayes Carll and Joe Fletcher, and is on the cover of Justin Townes Earle’s latest record Single Mothers.  That alone shows that he’s already in good company.

Inspired by the music of Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie, Brue started writing music at 10, after moving from Oregon to Utah. His father gave him a guitar to help pass time.  Since then he’s written his own music and has become quite the talented guitar player. Don’t let his youth fool you, his songwriting is wise beyond his years, and does recall Guthrie and Dylan, and that’s not a bad place to start.  Check out some of his songs below!
