Dream Stretcher 1

In hearing Dream Stretcher‘s new single, “Colors”, I was immediately reminded of some of the bands we’ve highlighted on Mundo Musique over the past 1+, including Black City Lights from New Zealand, Coves, and Mozart’s Sister. Electronic, synth, ambient, chillwave, and dreamy, Dream Stretcher is an apt name for the Los Angeles duo.

Composing of Clinton Van Arnam, who is a classically-trained drummer and pianist, and Melanie deJesus, Dream Stretcher formed only 2 years ago and have produced a handful of singles. Their sounds blends the ethereal qualities of Dream Boat, the hallow textures of Rhye, and the emotive music of Beach House. The music is alluring, hypnotic, and simply gorgeous. While their earlier tracks were very good, “Colors” reflects a quick progression in the duo’s growth – dreamier, more layered, and adding enough dashes of beats and tones to keep the listener beholden to deJesus’ voice.

Dream Stretcher are in the process of writing their first album, which we will look out for in the coming months. In the meantime, hear the four singles they’ve written to date, and they are below. You can also download their first three singles for free from their Soundcloud page.
