The Burgeoning are an indie rock four piece from Bensalem PA.  The band consists of brothers Logan (Vocals) and Alex (bass) Thierjung, guitarist Mark Menkevich, and drummer Brandon Bradley.  Their style is a pop-infused blend of indie rock, similar to that of Vampire Weekend, but with a bit more of an edge to it.  Their debut EP, Love Alchemy, Life Algorithm was released on October 14, and they just released a video for their song “Lighthouse”.

Love Alchemy, Life Algorithm is a six track EP, and starts out with a noise track called “[Nostalgia]” which leads into “Speak” which has a pretty slick bass line. The track “The Death of Social Networking” is where the EP’s title comes from, and also why I threw out the Vampire Weekend comparison, along with tracks like “That Day of Yesterness”.  The first track I heard from Love Alchemy, Life Algorithm was “Lighthouse”, which is a great track which has a wordless chorus of ooh’s and ahhs which adds a bit of a haunting feel to the track.  The EP closes with an acoustic track “I Am Deaf, You Are Blind” which is a heartfelt track, and a great way to close out a promising debut EP.
