One of my favourite indie labels is Friends of Friends because of they’re willing to take risks where other labels are not while at the same time fostering a collective, communal environment among its artists and its fans. It’s one of the more engaging record labels out there, and, as a result, some of the best indie music of the five years has come from the LA-based company.
To celebrate its five years, Friends of Friends released a spectacular, 36-song compilation featuring artists like Shlohmo, Perera Elsewhere, Salva, Tomas Barfod, and many more. There are also guest appearances from Baths and How to Dress Well. The other great thing about the compilation is that some of FoF’s artists have re-mixed their labelmates’ tracks, which reflects the culture at FoF.
If you haven’t heard some of these terrific musicians, then purchase the compilation that includes everything from indie-pop, indie-rock, synth, and electronic. The cost of the digital copy is only US$10, and you can purchase it on FoF’s Bandcamp site. Seriously, don’t miss out on this great, great album.
