Originating from Chelmsford in Essex of the UK is indie outfit Little Donkey. Late in 2014, they released their third EP, Real Woman, a compilation of foot-stomping, roots-rock tracks. The quartet’s sound resembles the great roots-rock coming out of Australia from such acts like Ash Grunwald, Jeff Lang, and Xavier Rudd (sans the didgeridoo). While each of the EP’s five tracks is solid, “We Erupt” stands out as the highlight with its roaring climax . “Mid-level Boss” takes a similar approach, using the intensity of the music as a means to describe an abusive supervisor.
You can hear the EP below and purchase Real Woman on their Bandcamp site, iTunes, and Amazon.
Little Donkey are Mat Frost (vocals, guitar, ukulele, mandolin), Simon Charlton (guitar, stompbox, vocals), Russ Charlton-Ricks (bass), and Jim Kemble (percussion).
