Gig Picks: Share Your Love with Ottawa’s Musicians on Valentine’s Day

by

What is Valentine’s Day? February 14th was once dedicated to Saint Valentine of Rome, but now it is a romantic date in which we are all familiar with. Card shops stock cards with poems that tell your lover how you feel. Special floral arrangements are arranged and special gifts are packaged and marked “To My Valentine”. On this day special Romantic Comedies debut at the cinema and restaurants lay out their “Valentine’s Day Special”. It’s a day to celebrate romance shared with a lover, or in more recent times a day to spend with good friends to celebrate the love of friendship.

So what do you buy a loved one on Valentine’s Day? Chocolates and candy, aren’t we all supposed to be on a post Christmas diet? “Love Coupons” that make us do things we don’t really want to do like do the dishes and laundry for an entire week? If you chose not to give a present, but to present your loved one with an activity, what do you chose? A trip downtown to see Winterlude’s ice and snow sculptures where you can freeze your nose and toes off? None of this will do. So now you are asking yourself, “What else is there to do on Valentine’s Day?” I’m so glad you asked. Here are a few live music events that will get you excited!

Craig Cardiff will be performing the matinee show at Black Sheep Inn located at 753 ch Riverside in Wakefield Quebec with guests Toast of the Town, an acoustic duo from London, Ontario, and Mike Evin of Toronto. Show starts at 2pm, admission is $25 at the door or $20 in advance. Buy tickets
