Val Son – “Sundays”

by

“Sundays” is the magnificent, breathtaking debut single by Michael Gunvalson, who is going by the moniker Val Son. Gunvalson was the touring drummer of indie band On an On, but he’s now charting a similar path as Joshua Tillman (aka Father John Misty) in undertaking his own solo project. The initial results are off-the-charts. With the intimacy of early Death Cab for Cutie and the stirring brilliance of The War on Drugs and Strand of Oaks, the Minneapolis songwriter has created one of the best songs of 2015 so far. As such, he has blown the roof off the expectations for his forthcoming singles.

This is the first of a number of singles that Gunvalson will release with indie label Comonada Records. Download the track for free on his Bandcamp page.

Hear “Sundays” and 19 other cool, indie tracks can be heard on the March 27th edition of The Weekend Showcase.
