For Esmé, Toronto – “You”

by

A band that we’ve become slightly infatuated with is Toronto’s For Esmé. The trio of Martha Meredith (vocal, drum machine, synth), Dave Thiel (bass, electronic soundscapes), and Nathan Crook (guitar, vox) have a great knack for creating expansive and mesmerizing music, as evidenced by their initial single “Just Yet”.

The band has returned with another brilliant song, “You”, which is atmospheric and infectious. It echoes of fellow Torontonians Austra with a touch of early Metric. With these two singles, we can’t wait to hear their debut album, which should be out sometime this year.

In the meantime, take a listen to the May 15th Edition of the Weekend Showcase, where you can find “You” and 19 other scintillating indie tracks.
