Earlier this year, we had featured New Zealand band French for Rabbits as a Hidden Gem, recognizing them for their brilliant and breathtaking dream-folk. Their most recent album, Spirits, was startling and gorgeous, and it immediately won us over.

The band has returned with a single, “Hold Hands”, which will be released as part of a special compilation called Autumn that will be released by Home Alone Music – an independent label based in Wellington and operated by musicians. The new single is actually a more stripped down song for French for Rabbits. It retains the lush, atmospheric qualities of their previous efforts, but amplified over an acoustic folk arrangement. It’s simple but beautiful at the same time.

To hear how the band can create even more dreamy and atmospheric sounds, two remixes of their brilliant single, “The Other Side”, are provided below. You can purchase Autumn on Bandcamp.

“Hold Hands” is also featured on the May 29th Edition of the Weekend Showcase, a playlist of 21 new singles from around the world.
