An exciting band coming from middle Canada, specifically Winnipeg, Manitoba, is Sc Mira. Their combination of folk, Americana, and rock has the feeling of music being created in the US by such notable bands like The Head and The Heart and The Lone Bellow. They’re about to release their debut album, Waiting Room Baby, and the latest single is the brilliant “Do Me” – a bar-room dance number that must be played in a small venue where everyone is close to the band and moving. The voice of front woman Sadye Cage particularly stands out and brings together the different arrangements and various instruments together.

Sc Mira also released “On My Own” earlier this year, which will also be on the forthcoming album. Waiting Room Baby will be released on June 9 via Pipe & Hat.

Sc Mira are Sadye Cage (vocals, guitar); Ty Vega (guitar, keys, vocals); Mario Lagasse (bass); Jed Desilets (drums); and Caro LaFlamme (keys).

“Do Me” is one of 21 songs on the May 29th Edition of the Weekend Showcase, a playlist of music from new bands from around the globe.
