Signe Marie Rustad is a singer-songwriter from Oslo, Norway. For the past 2-3 years, she has emerged as an up-and-coming singer-songwriter, dabbling in alt-country, Americana, and folk. Her sound, however, isn’t like the dream-folk that is coming from Sweden or the euphoric Americana of Iceland. Instead, her approach is straight-forward, old-fashion, acoustic guitar-driven music heard in the US and Canada. Her style is similar to the greats like Lucinda Williams and Emmylou Harris and contemporaries like Kathleen Edwards (although she’s semi-retired) and Gillian Welch. Just one listen of Signe Marie Rustad’s new single, “The Space Song”, demonstrates that the Norwegian artist shares a lot in common with these notable musicians.

“The Space Song” is the lead single from her second album, which is out today! If we could read Norwegian, we would tell you more, but alas we cannot. We’ll try to share more details when we can find them.

In the meantime, you can find “The Space Song” on the May 29th Edition of the Weekend Showcase, a playlist of 21 new songs from band across the globe.
