Earlier this month, Los Angeles quartet Northern American released their new album, Modern Phenomena. You wouldn’t be mistaken if the album echoes of fellow LA act Local Natives, as the album was produced by Local Natives collaborator Mark Chalecki. Modern Phenomena, though, is a more lush and dreamy album, one that has the feeling of settling in the clouds above the expansive city. The title track provides a great introduction into the band’s sound and approach. It’s a romantic tune that is heightened by its cinematic quality. As such, it would be an ideal song for a love story, either on the big and little screen.
