Today our CoverBack Thursday is from Chandanie, an R&B songstress from NYC. Her vocals remind of Erykah Badu and her re-interpretation of Van Hunt‘s 2004 r&b original is impressive.

Chandanie is the songstress of the No9to5 hip-hop collective and she is no stranger to the music scene. Chandanie is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who is creating a melange of soul and folk in her work. She combines the simplicity of fluid vocal harmonies, melodic guitar lines, and acoustic percussion including djembe and cajon. Her sound could be described as acoustic soul.

Chandanie is performing as the lead vocalist in Brooklyn’s very own Flyer Learning and is currently exploring the indie music scene. The cover for Down Here in Hell (With You) is the first release on the upcoming ‘”is that a crime?” EP.

We are also including the video for the original track by Van Hunt who has a fairly new release from earlier this year titled The Fun Rises The Fun Sets. If you have a cover you would like us to feature for CoverBack Thursday, shoot us an e-mail.
