This week’s Rendition is a little different than previous editions, as the remixes are much more club friendly. If you think about, it’s the perfect music to start the weekend and to warm up to as the temperatures start to cool down. As always, the original track is also included so you can make a comparison.

The Womb – “Wild Dogs” (Fennec & Wolf Remix)

When The Womb formed in 1998, they were among the UK’s rising electro-pop acts and remained so for over ten years. In 2011, the band moved to Australia and with that came a new composition. The one constant, however, has been English musician Alan Driscoll. Last month, The Womb released “Wild Dogs of Nauru”, which is a really cool, spaghetti western-esque protest song and was the band’s 100th single.

The song, though, got an immediate makeover as The Womb collaborated with noted German producer Stereo Express, who quickened up the tempo and turned it into a dazzling pop song. This new mix was pretty great. But that wasn’t enough, as another German producer and DJ, Fennec & Wolf, was asked to also add his own touches. He built on Stereo Express’ version to create a club-oriented mind-bender. Hear the original version and the one with Stereo Express below.

Edit: background on The Womb was inaccurate and corrected by comments from Mr. Driscoll.

Django Django – “Pause Repeat” (JD Twitch Optimo Remix)

Rising London quartet Django Django have been applauded by critics, pundits, fans, bloggers, you name it for their innovative approach to indie-pop, often channeling ’80s music or incorporating sounds from other cultures. Earlier this year, they released a new album, Born Under Saturn, which included “Pause Repeat”. Earlier this week, the song got a new life as noted Glasgow producer and DJ Keith McIvor – better known as JD Twitch (Optimo) – turned the pop tune into a buzzing, trippy house number. It’s a really cool remix reminiscent of the underground music that was once played constantly in Europe’s best clubs 20 years. Dare we say that this remix is better than the original?

Satchmode – “Never Gonna Take You Back” (LEFTI remix)

LA dream-pop duo Satchmode are an internet sensation. Don’t let their number of Facebook or Twitter followers trick you, this band constantly hits over 100,000 hits on SoundCloud for their singles and thousands of likes on Hype Machine. Gabe Donnay and Adam Boukis pop music is extremely catchy, and they often dabble with ’80s melodies to create their sound. Their most popular, oriiginal single to date (at least on SoundCloud) is “Never Gonna Take You Back”, which was released at the end of the summer and has a vintage ’80s sound.

Just a couple of days ago, Alexander Suarez- a.k.a. LEFTI – remixed the single. Like the previous two remixes we’ve profiled, Suarez has transformed the number into a buzzing, anthemic, club track. What’s really interesting about the remix is that Suarez utilizes ’80s approaches to remake the song, ensuring that the remix still sounds like it was created some three decades ago.

If you’re wondering where you may have heard LEFTI’s name before, Suarez recently remixed Gallant’s “Weight in Gold” into an awesome dance tune. He’s done the same with “Never Gonna Take You Back”.
