Dresses – “Let Down” (USA)

Portland based duo Dresses have a great new track with “Let Down”. Timothy Heller from the duo shared a little about the new track. Let down was intended to be a song about struggling with mental illness and how it can effect a relationship. But at the same time it’s a lighter take on a dark subject where the person learns at the end to not blame themselves. Even though their struggle messed up a relationship, and they let the other person down, they didn’t let themselves down. My hope for this song is that others who are struggling in a situation like this will hear it and be a little easier on themselves. I want Let Down to help others dealing with mental illness feel a little more positive and not blame themselves for things they can’t always control. Their upcoming EP also titled Let Down will be released 10/23.

Honeymilk – “Psychrocker” (Sweden)

Honeymilk are a psychedelic indie rock band from Stockholm who have been gathering much deserved attention for their quality sound. They actually wrote Psychrocker as a protest song about “people with more arrogance than they merit. People with a bigger idea of themselves than their talent can live up to”. They then realized that they wrote the song about themselves so it’s really a tribute to Honeymilk. The band is comprised of Nikki Nyberg, Marcus Admund, Tomas Hellberg and Erik Fitz. The track is awesome and we look forward to hearing more from these Swedish rockers.

Miner is a pretty awesome indie folk-rock band from Los Angeles. “Better Instincts” is a stellar and mesmerizing track and one that proves the talent of this band comprised of husband/wife duo Justin and Kate Miner, along with Justin’s brother Jeremy. They are joined by Tobias Urbanczyk on drums and percussion. They also have a brand new video for the track which you can check out here. We are super excited about their upcoming album Tuanaki, which will be released early next year. The album was recorded in Seattle with producer Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Modest Mouse, Band of Horses). “Better Instincts” explores the perpetual inner battle between our aspirations and darker impulses – a battle often lost despite our best intentions.

RAEKO is back with a brand new awesome synth pop track, this time with the help of Maya Tuttle from The Colourist. Jason shares a little bit about his collaboration with Tuttle. “When I wrote Back 2 U, I imagined it with a female vocalist and I thought of Maya right away. I’ve known the Colourist for a while and always loved Maya’s voice, so it was great to be able to collaborate on the track with her.
