Brass Bed – “I Am Just A Whisper” (Lafayette, USA)

Lafayette, LA based Brass Bed have just released their single “I Am Just A Whisper” which will be off of their 4th LP, In the Yellow Leaf (via Modern Outsider). The album will be released sometime next spring on Modern Outsider. The track is commanding with a scuzzed out feel that emits uncertainty yet strength with it’s solid showing awesome guitar jangle and consistent percussion. Campo’s lyrics almost add a soft sweetness to the harder rock track. It also has a hint of reverb to bring in the traditional shoegaze fan as well. Brass Bed is comprised of Christiaan Mader (guitar, vocals, bass), Jonny Campos (guitar, vocals, bass) and Peter DeHart (percussion).

Controller – “No Future” (New York City, USA)

NYC based Controller just keeps impressing. The quintet is comprised of Keith, Brian, Josh, Kyle and Jonathan. With previous tracks like “Midnight Man” they took an early 80s dance vibe route but “No Future” has hints of early Muse and has a total rock-pop vibe. More people need to discover Controller, they have the potential to be the next Walk The Moon. Their highly anticipated EP also titled No Future will be released November 9. We love the explanation behind this song from lead singer Jon: “On the surface, the song is a murder ballad, like “Folsom Prison Blues,” but it’s really about the kind of reality distortion field that can start rotting your mind when you spend a lot of time in a relationship with someone (a girlfriend, a parent, a friend) who’s really negative and unstable. Certain crazy people tend to bring out the crazy in the people around them, and this song is about letting that consume you until you feel insane yourself.”

Little White Things – “Step Back” (London, UK)

London based Little White Things just signed to Chess Club Records and their debut single, which officially drops next week, is an awesome dreamy indie pop jam that has us waiting for more. The duo is comprised of Irishman David Behan and Swede Max Bergstrom when they met by chance at a party in East London. They immediately began talking music the next day and wasted no time to create their sound. The duo also loves avant-garde twists and psychedelic peculiarities so we will be keeping tabs on Little White Things and their future releases.

Maybe The Moon is an indie-electro duo from the Bay Area. The two members Karmen Kimball and Alex Lasner are engaged to each other and met back in 2012. With their mutual love for Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music, they have been working in the studio to release a batch of singles this year. “Washout” is a stellar 80s inspired track that holds our attention. The track is also available as a free download on soundcloud.

PAPA – “Hold On” (Encino, CA, USA)

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/229429820″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”120″ iframe=”true” /]

PAPA is a pretty awesome rock band out of CA. Each track that they have created has been pretty awesome. “Hold On” takes a little turn from their previous sound yet the evolution is welcomed and this might just be the new direction for Danny Presant and Darren Weiss. Even though the lyrics are ones of dissatisfaction, the track has great rhythm and memorable vocals. PAPA have been working in the studio for a while now so we expect to hear more in the near future.

RYDER – “Ruins” (Los Angeles, USA)

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/228049349″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

We previously featured RYDER’s track “Pretty Little Gangster” and likened her to the next Banks. Well she is back with “Ruins” and the track is continuing to rack up plays on Soundcloud and it’s only been out 10 days. Surprisingly Ryder is still an unsigned artist and keeps producing solid synth pop tracks. We are sure the LA based artist will continue to create more buzz as more singles are released. She would be a perfect candidate for collaborations with big time electro artists like RAC or Odesza.
