We are a music website. We share awesome music from around the world. We are not a news or political place to sound off, but sometimes things happen and we cannot be silent. Today’s Matinee is dedicated to France. We are sharing some of our favorite independent bands with French connections or currently based in France. The atrocities that took place a week ago are cowardly and evil. It is even more disturbing that the most casualties took place while patrons were enjoying some good old rock n’ roll.  We celebrate life, we celebrate music and we will not be silent.

So turn up your headphones and stand with France today and everyone else that has been affected by terrorism. Our hearts go out to everyone that has been effected by this tragedy. Check back tomorrow for the entire weekly playlist which includes bands from around the world.

DTCV – “It’s a Stealer (Surf Version)”

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/229440484″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”120″ iframe=”true” /]

We have shared DTCV in the past (pronounced Dectective). They did a stellar cover of Elvis Costello’s back in the summer. We are now sharing an original track titled “It’s a Stealer (Surf Version)” which is a surfy vibey track. This song is actually a bonus track off of their most recent album titled Uptime! DTCV is a female fronted French-American post punk duo from California. The band name is pronounced “detective” so it’s only fitting they chose “Watching The Detectives” to cover. Singer Guylaine Vivarat offers strong female fronted vocals with help from American guitarist James Greer.
