Jeff Martin brings acoustic show to Mavericks

Jeff Martin is the lead singer of one of Canada’s greatest rock bands, The Tea Party. I only managed to see The Tea Party once before they went on hiatus. During their hiatus I twice caught Jeff Martin’s solo shows and very much enjoyed them. Clearly his solo performance is a completely different experience. Where The Tea Party put on a high energy rock show where Jeff Martin solo delivers a much more intimate affair.

The Tea Party of course re-united a few years ago and I have managed to see them twice more since including this past summer at Bluesfest; both fantastic shows. When I heard he would be playing another solo show I did not hesitate and snapped up tickets quickly. Just like my previous experiences he put on an excellent and intimate show for the loyal fans. He looked so content to be performing in front of this crowd; a crowd that proved its mutual admiration by singing along to large sections of his beloved songs. This intimate show was perfect for a smaller club like Mavericks.

Opening up for Jeff Martin was Vancouver’s No Sinner. Their sound is reminiscent of some of rock’s great acts of the past but with their own special twist. They demand attention and if you missed the show you should really check them out.
