Joe Wood – “Rush” (single premiere)

by

We are super excited to premiere the debut track “Rush” from emerging singer-songwriter Joe Wood. A native of Long Island but now residing in New York City, Wood’s intoxicating mix of soul, R&B, and electronic might have you thinking of one of music’s A-listers – Justin Timberlake. This isn’t to say that Wood is already at the former Mickey Mouse Club and NSYNC member’s level, but if he continues down this path he could reach it sooner than later.

Joe Wood has more singles on the way this spring and he’s co-writing and producing an EP for April Gabrielli entitled The Haunt.

On “Rush”, that silky smooth mix of genres can be heard. It’s an electrifying and tantalizing, electro-pop/-RnB track that provides the foundation for his alluring vocals. It’s a song that represents Joe Wood as both a gentleman as well a ladies’ man. Sound familiar?

Wood shared a bit about the motivation behind his newest track, and you can hear every bit of his description in his fantastic single. So sit back, enjoy the single while you read Wood’s remarks:

“The song is meant to reflect on the frustrating dating culture of today. The guitar/synth represents the euphoria of being with someone new and the chorus is a plead to be patient with love (and not jump into bed). Rush is also heavily inspired by water (The cold, exhilarating “rush” you feel when diving into the pool contrasted with the frustration and claustrophobia of not being able to breathe underwater).
