Wild Rivers play Zaphod’s (photo essay)

Wild Rivers is a folk band originally formed by Devan Glover and Khalid Yassein. They released their debut EP as Devan and Khalid, and it is available from their Bandcamp site via donation. Though they met in Kingston, they have since relocated to Toronto, Ontario. A couple of new members have since joined the lineup, namely Ben Labenski (drums) and Andrew Oliver (Bass, Guitar). With this evolution, they have renamed themselves Wild Rivers and their debut album is scheduled to be released in April 2016.

The first single from their album is “Already Gone”, a song we featured a few weeks ago on The Saturday Sampler. The terrific harmonies and skillful musicianship heard on the single were in full display when Wild Rivers played local, Ottawa favourite Zaphod Beeblebrox  last Friday as part of their current Eastern tour. Laid-back, calming indie-folk music – a brilliant way to spend an evening. Wild Rivers are still traveling around Canada, so check to see if their tour takes them to a town near you.
