Today we have an awesome cover premiere. There are so many covers out there today. What makes a cover specifically special is when the artist covers a legend, another great artist or band (past or present) that they admire and they make it their own.
Jordan Humphrey‘s version of the Elvis classic does just that. We have a very soulful and moving tribute to the late great Mr. Presley by Atlanta native Jordan Humphrey. As American Idol is airing it’s last season for good in the US, I can’t help but think if Mr. Humphrey were auditioning to make it to Hollywood and would have chosen this song and sung it, he would have made it through since almost all of those auditions are cover songs.
Today it’s only fitting to share Jordan Humphrey covering Mr. Elvis Presley. After all, the very first song Mr. Presley recorded for Sun Records was in fact a cover of Bill Monroe’s “Blue Moon of Kentucky”. Many artists get their start or become discovered with cover songs since the listener can relate to the song and appreciate the artist’s interpretation of that song.
Jordan Humphrey’s re-interpretation of “Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” captures the heart of the original with a soulful r&b twist. Jordan Humphrey’s passionate and impressive vocals take center stage amidst simple keys and percussion. Hopefully with Mr. Humphrey’s modern day version of a timeless classic, he just might expose a younger generation to one of the most profound pioneers of modern day rock and roll.
Jordan Humphrey was discovered at the age of 16 by David Foster and opened up on tour for Michael Bublé and Celine Dion. At 18 he was signed to Konvict Music (Akon’s record label). He is now 22 and living in LA working on his debut EP that will be released independently this summer.
We have a feeling we will be hearing more great things from Jordan Humphrey in 2016. Check out all of his social channels below for more info.
