Spring Fling 2016 at Main Street Armory Pt. 1 (photo essay)

On March 26th, the Spring Fling Rock AF tour rolled into the Main Street Armory in Rochester, NY. With a lineup including Bear Hands, Foals, Silversun Pickups and Cage the Elephant, it was chock-a-block with of-the-moment music and fully worthy of a road trip to attend.

The Brooklyn natives Bear Hands led off the evening with a 7-song set featuring songs from their three albums Burning Bush Supper Club, Distraction, and their newest release You’ll Pay for This. It’s hard not to sing along with “2AM” or “Agora“.

British band Foals, who have had a fantastic past 12 months, followed. Their frontman, Yannis Philippakis, powered through a nine-track set, featuring songs primarily from Holy Fire and their latest release What Went Down. By the time he ventured into the crowd for their final song, the eager crowd was just a sea of screams and flailing hands. They’re one of the hottest bands in the business, which was on full display this evening.
