by

The Matinee June 3rd includes 6 upbeat tracks to get your weekend started off right. For many school is out and it’s officially summer so we couldn’t help but put a few dance worthy tracks on the list. We have artists representing the US, the UK, Denmark and Sweden today. We hope you find your new favorite song or band. As always, check back tomorrow for more new music on our Saturday sampler.

Avec Sans – “Perth” (London, England)

Avec Sans - PerthRIYL: CHVRCHES, Ladyhawke, Purity Ring

Alice Fox and Jack St. James make up synth pop duo Avec Sans. We have been loving every single they have been releasing up until this point. They have just released “Perth” ahead of their upcoming debut album which is an amazing take on the stellar Bon Iver track, so we totally had to share.

Avec Sans add in their blend of perfectly placed synth set against Alice’s beautifully crisp vocals and they transform Bon Iver’s original dreamy version into an 80s inspired dance track. We really feel it’s only a matter of time before Avec Sans becomes a massive success in the same way as CHVRCHES.

“Perth” is the lead single from Avec Sans’ highly anticipated debut album, Heartbreak Hi via Beverly Martel Heartbreak Hi is actually streaming right now on Spotify.

Elijah Noll – “Ride” (Chicago via Portland, ME, USA)

Elijah Noll - "Ride"RIYL: Troye Sivan, Matt Woods, Jack Garratt

Newcomer Elijah Noll is a multi-instrumentalist from Portland, ME now based in Chicago and has just released his new single, “Ride”.

The track is filled with hints of sultry R&B vibes thanks to Mr. Noll’s syrupy vocals. “Ride” is peppered with an ample amount of synth and driving beats to satisfy any electro-pop fan. Lyrically the track speaks to a relationship where you agree to support one another through the hard times no matter what with lyrics like “she said she’s gonna ride with me even when I’m broken down”. Even though the theme of the track has elements of darkness to it, it still breaks through with moments of light and hope.

We are sure to be hearing more this year from newcomer Noll.

GOLDHOUSE X Lostboycrow – “Free From The Start” (Chicago & Los Angeles, USA)

GOLDHOUSE X Lostboycrow - "Free From The Start"RIYL: RKCB, Annabel Jones, Handsome Ghost

GOLDHOUSE has just released a collaboration titled “Free From The Start” with talented vocalist Lostboycrow. Summer has officially started for many, and this is another one to add to any of your upbeat lists.

The track is pulsating with poppy synth, impressive bass and topped off with Lostboycrow’s vocals that are always a soothing sound to anyone’s ear. We normally get more of a sultry R&B vibe from LBC but the production talent of GOLDHOUSE makes this one an upbeat electro-pop gem.

Lostboycrow shares a bit about “Free From The Start”: “The most important moments in life live just on the other side of fear…I immediately saw the song set on that blurry line of love, danger and escapism.”

Hater – “Radius” (Malmö, Sweden)

Hater - "Radius"RIYL: Alvvays, The Pains of Being Pure of Heart, HAERTS

Hater is new on the scene and is creating really awesome guitar based indie-pop. With “Radius” being their debut single, we are introduced to a sound similar to the success of Alvvays which combines garage rock fare with talented guitar rock.

We are immediately enamored by the sugary vocals of Caroline Landahl at first listen and we also want to hear more, a little over 2 minutes just isn’t enough. The jangly guitars and feel good vibes immediately hook us in so we know we won’t be disappointed with more to come.

Hater is comprised of Caroline Landahl, Måns Leonartsson, Adam Agace and Lukas Thomasson.

“Radius” is the lead single and title track from their debut EP, which arrives July 8th via PNKSLM Recordings.

Heavy Heart – “Pretty Thing” (London, England)

HEAVY HEART - "Pretty Thing"RIYL: Lush, Black Honey, Moving Panoramas

Heavy Heart reminds of all of the awesome parts of the 90s. The minimal yet powerful grungey rock sound that you just can’t seem to get enough of. “Pretty Thing” is full of airy, dreamy, shoegazey goodness.

“Pretty Thing” is the perfect amount of reverb with sweet yet strong vocals and jangley guitar.

We are also impressed to find out “Pretty Thing” is the 5th installment of a song-a-month project by the band (released at the end of May). So far each one of the tracks are great in their own right and none of them sound thrown together or rushed which demonstrates the creative talent of Heavy Heart.

We are actually looking forward to the end of June to see what this month’s gem will be.

Slaughter Beach – “Glaze” (Denmark)

Slaughter Beach - "Glaze"RIYL: MGMT, The Radio Dept., My Bloody Valentine

“Glaze” is lo-fi perfection from Danish band Slaughter Beach. Last year they released their debut EP, Love/Venice which has kept them on our radar ever since.

“Glaze” is their newest track and it has breakout potential written all over it. With it’s ethereal composition and perfect blend of lo-fi/psychedelia, you can’t help but believe you just listened to one of the more exciting and captivating songs to come out so far this year.

Slaughter Beach shares a bit about the track: “We feel like this track embodies the spirit and vibe of our past, now and future as a band. There’s always been a tang of nostalgia in our music, but we’ve never been striving for just being great at emulating our heroes of some lost golden age of music. With “Glaze” we feel as though we’ve made something that’s nostalgic and futuristic at the same time.”

The single officially drops today via Norwegian label Brilliance.

Slaughter Beach are Nikolaj Westi, Hasse Mydtskov Mads, and Emil Aagaard.
