Cuesta Loeb - wings portraitWe cannot say it enough – we are in the midst of the era of the singer-songwriter. Whether within the mainstream (Adele, Taylor Swift) or indie circles (Angel Olsen, Mitski), these multi-talented artists are creating songs that emotionally and sometimes physically moving. The field has become more crowded with the arrival of Cuesta Loeb.

Her debut single, “My King”, premiered last week on Free Bike Valet. The sultry yet gritty dream-pop song introduced the music world to a thoughtful artist who is not afraid to think outside the box, as she blended the creativity of School of Seven Bells and the romanticism of Beach House. Her second single, “Dive”, is out today, and we are extremely pleased to premiere it.

“Dive” presents an edgier side to the Los Angeles-based artist without sacrificing the ethereal soundscapes of her first number. Think Fiona Apple lyricism mixed with the cosmic beauty of Slowdive and DREAMBOAT. The combination, as such, yields a powerful yet hypnotic song. It is brilliant, beautiful, and stunning, and a track that you will want to repeatedly dive in (pun intended).

Hear the single above or watch the video below. Loeb’s first single, “My King”, is also included for your listening pleasure. If you would like to know more about the singer-songwriter, her bio, which she provided, is at the end.

More about Cuesta Loeb

New York City native, Christina Cuesta Loeb (who dropped the “Christina” for her debut solo project), comes from a family of musicians. Born to world-renown jazz guitarist Chuck Loeb and Spanish singer-songwriter/actress Carmen Cuesta, she grew up between the US and Spain, studying classical flute and bassoon. While she really enjoyed performing and playing in orchestras, Cuesta Loeb was unable to find her voice in classical music. In 2015, she moved to Los Angeles and began experimenting in her own songwriting and production.

Inspired by Green Day, The Smashing Pumpkins, Fiona Apple, and (early) Sheryl Crow, she combined her love of dark, haunting melodies with dreamy, ethereal instrumentation and vocals. She found her home somewhere in the world of dream-pop with a blend of everything from acoustic ukuleles to shoegaze guitars. On September 9th, 2016, Loeb will independelty release her first four-track EP, Dive.
