Since 2015, we have asked independent artists to share their favorite memories from their time at SXSW. In just a couple of years, this project has become one of our most popular features thanks to the growing interests of bands and singers from around the world. Forty-five artists participated in this year’s edition, including Kolars.
Guitar and Percussion eclectic duo Kolars describe their sound as Desert Disco, Glam-a-Billy, Space Blues, R&Beyond – take your pick!
Our Show at The Historic Scoot Inn:
On Wednesday of that crazy SXSW week, we had our best show. Tons of us packed into the amazing Historical Scoot Inn, a venue that is almost like an outdoor amphitheater-with the right amount of down home vibe. We played under the stars, at a spot where some of our favorite musicians have played over the years. The staff also couldn’t have been sweeter!
Performing with our wonderful, talented friend, Shakey Graves:
One of our favorite musicians, who also happens to be a dear friend and a rad person, Shakey Graves, performed with us throughout the week as our 3rd band member. He killed it on the bass – an instrument he almost never plays!! Just made our week all the more epic and badass.
Got To See Our Favorite Band Play, Spoon!
On Monday of the SXSW week, at the very beginning before we spent our time running around and heavily sweating, we got to kick back at The Apple Music House (a house run expertly by our pals David Heath & Ana Calderon) and see an intimate performance by our favorite band, Spoon! Took the whole week to another level-truly inspiring.
