Since 2015, we have asked independent artists to share their favorite memories from their time at SXSW. In just a couple of years, this project has become one of our most popular features thanks to the growing interests of bands and singers from around the world. Forty-five artists participated in this year’s edition, including The Academic.
All the way from Mullingar in the Emerald Isle, alt-indie four-piece The Academic rocked their first trip to SXSW.
We got to try out Tex-mex for the first time in Austin. We hit up a place called Uncle Julio’s, which was awesome!
We got to see some great acts perform over the week we were in Austin, such as Hippo Campus and Sigrid.
Our showcases were definitely our main highlight of Austin. It was our first time playing in America, so it was awesome to get such a good reaction at our shows.
