Since 2015, we have asked independent artists to share their favorite memories from their time at SXSW. In just a couple of years, this project has become one of our most popular features thanks to the growing interests of bands and singers from around the world. Forty-five artists participated in this year’s edition, including Knox Hamilton.

One of the fastest-rising, indie-pop bands in the past year, Knox Hamilton released their debut album, The Heights, during SXSW. As such, brothers Cobo and Boots Copeland plus Drew Buffington had plenty on their minds while in Austin. However, they did take a moment to share their favorite memory from SXSW, and it involves footwear (and no, it’s not about Boots the person).

Our favorite memory was getting to play the Noisetrade/Frye show and getting these free boots! (see photo below) The St. David showcase was also great. Very intimate, magical show.
