Hertfordshire-based High Wire Brigade let their music do the talking on Friday night, as they hammered through song after song to get the crowd going in the futuristic looking Thousand Island. A thirty minute slot didn’t give much time, but the songs were mostly quick, punchy and loud! The four-piece garage band were clearly well drilled, got the few words they needed to get in, before breaking straight into the next tune.

Co-lead vocalists, Mark and Kaj, took turns singing with Mark providing a rougher voice and Kaj a smoother sound. They opened their set with “Lakes”, a fast paced rocky song. You can tell already that these guys shouldn’t be first on the bill!
They played “115”, a slower song that allowed everyone relax for a couple minutes before closing up with the song that will be stuck in everyone’s head, “Hibernate”. Coming in at over eight minutes, this is the encore song that most bands would dream of having. They recently shot the video for it, and it’s now up for viewing on Youtube.

Coming into festival season, things are quiet on the gig front, but you can catch them at Wilkestock in September.
The recently released single of Hibernate is available on iTunes and Spotify.
Headliners for the night were Alvarez Kings, with support from Future Thieves and Saint Petersburg.
